Waivers for the Coast Guard academy

I fail the DODMERB requirements for hearing and I am trying to find the branches I am eligible to commission in. I recently found out that the Navy or Marine Corps does not waive hearing loss for officers. I have been looking into the Coast Guard Academy and can't find a definitive answer to what medical disqualifications they find waiver-able. I have asked my admissions officer, but he did not seem to know. Has anyone recently had experience getting hearing loss waived in any branch. Also I have found this article in the Coast Guards medical standards, it reads:

https://www.uscg.mil/health/cg1121/docs/pdf/medman.e.ch3.pdf (p.121)

"Candidates and their parents and sponsors are urged to refrain from requesting waivers for medical defects. The CG bases its decision to disqualify an individual on medical facts revealed in a thorough physical examination. Candidates unable to satisfy the minimum requirements are not suited for commission in the Regular CG, and consequently are not eligible for training at the Academy. A request for waiver for a medical defect invariably results in disappointment to all concerned."

Does this mean that getting a waiver is very unlikely for Coast Guard applicants that fail the DODMERB exam? My hearing loss has remained consistent for the past 10 years and I am able to perform despite the disability. Any help in addressing my situation is appreciated.

Is the hearing loss in one or both ears? I know someone who had hearing loss in one ear and qualified/waivered for both USMA and USNA, but not CGA.
