The Pew Research Center has released a fairly interesting survey of about 2000 vets. I have only had the chance to read the executive summary, but it highlights some interesting not too surprising divergences of opinion between the civil population and veterans as well as some differences between pre and post 9/11 veterans. It's worth a read

You are right, it a great read. As a civilian, I don't find it surprising, that support for those of who defend freedom as dropped. The general population at large doesn't understand, I believe truly what it at stake here. We have become to complacent here in this country, that everything is ok now.
