Very interesting interview withSebastian Junger who recently published a book "WAR" about his time embedded with a Platoon of the 173d Abn Bde in the Korengal Valley in the mountains of Afghanistan. The interview is from WBUR on June 14th in Boston and also includes a substantial excerpt from the book.
This is a really powerful picture of an Infantry Platoon under fire. If you want to know something about what motivates Soldiers and what makes them so unique and what they have to deal with afterwards- LISTEN to this interview.

Has anyone had the chance to go see the movie "Restrepo"? It is a documentary of the platoon out on OP Restrepo in the Korengal Valley- (where Junger was embedded with the 173d Abn). My son saw the movie at Ft Benning - told me it was excellent and it won an award at Sundance, but it had limited release and I haven't been able to find it released anywhere.

Saw it here at Campbell. My supply sergeant was attached to that platoon. Excellent film
