Wave of appointments

Yeah I have a feeling that from now on, most of the portal updates will come later in the week. I have no definitive proof of this, it's really just conjecture, but at least it'll help us get through these next couple days!
Hang in there everyone! At a maximum, we have 99 days of waiting (that's when I-Day starts!) :)
 
Hang in there everyone! I for sure did not expect to get a call today at all from my senator. I was told today by USAFA (after calling them) that my portal would be updated Thursday with my appointment status so I could start my paperwork then.
 
So when they update your portal you'll also get your appointee kit?
 
I think I need to accept the appointment first according to what I heard. She just said my portal will be updated Thursday to reflect the appointment.

I haven't heard about any of mine either, and I'm certain I will have at least two and one Preppie. I keep checking though!

Check your email spam folders, too! Sometimes, really important things...like emails from MOC's...can end up there. I'm just sayin', it can happen! :D

I believe you're right, wildblueyonder! The Admissions people today said many should find out this week.
 
My DS's ALO officer did not know either.
When will we be able to schedule appointee visits? My DS is really on the fence.
 
Someone who knows someone out west had info that 500-ish appointments had been sent to the appropriate Members of Congress and that portals will be updated on the last day before USAFA goes on spring break -- that would be Thursday morning, or less than 36 hours from now (fewer than, my DS would remind me). Hang on tight!

SunshineMom, someone earlier said that historically about 10% of appointments are being reported on these forums. As of now "Class of 2019 Appointment" thread has 80 appointments reported. Wouldn't that translate into 800 already offered? Not just 500-ish ?
Just asking. Because we are in the same "waiting" boat as most people here. And it is a little bit discouraging to not hear anything from USAFA.

I have seen that 10% figure around here for years and I have never seen any real data to back it up. Maybe one year the forum had 100 appointments listed and there were 1000 appointments overall. That doesn't mean that it is a consistent figure and I would be wary of trying to calculate anything from it. In fact, since the popularity of this forum has grown by a lot, it would seem that any data like that would be obsolete. Don't stress yourself with trying to read the tea leaves.

AB11, I don't have any info about a percentage of posts here vs what's been announced so far, but if you add early appointments to something over 500 going out to members of Congress for announcement, it may still be pretty close to 10%. As disheartening as it would be, I'd rather hear "not this year, please try again" than wait for another few weeks. Then DS can make a choice and move forward. It's the not knowing, isn't it?
 
Totally agree, SunshineMom. I'd rather hear "no" than wait till mid or end of April.
Lets hope tomorrow's portal update brings some good news to everyone!

Are you in Virginia?
 
Yes. DS is VA-05. From your description of the "other nominations in your state", I didn't suppose there could be two states that fit the description. :) so it appears both Senators Nominations are in as appointments AND on the appointment thread. And Wolfe and Hurt's are in. Is that what you assess? (And all on the forum, which is crazy!)

I think you're correct. However, I also talked with the liaison (not sure that's the correct title) at Congresswoman Comstock's office yesterday and she affirmed that she had also worked for Congressman Wolf. She said that quite often, MOCs from No. Va. get several appointments off a single slate due to the high caliber of nominees so not to fret. Also, the office is still in transition from Wolf to Comstock so that phone calls were not being made. Maybe Hurt's office is in the same boat?! Aside from the one appointment given out over the phone by Comstock's office, tomorrow could be a very telling day. Or we could continue to wait. Until we hear a definitive "no", we're still in the hunt!

Two of my candidates became Appointees yesterday. and received information that their portals will be updated on 19 March
