So I've seen the WCS mentioned several times in this forum but I have no idea what it consists of. Are there any specifics you guys could give me?

By "WCS" I'm going to assume you mean the "Whole Candidate Score".

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but, I believe this is just a system used by USNA to evaluate your entire person, ranging from academics, athletics, extra-curriculars, leadership, community service, ect ect. The academy wants well rounded individuals who excel in many fields, not just one.

Yes, that's what I'm referring to, thank you. I've seen people mention point scores though, so I was curious to see what their system is like.

I'm not entirely sure if anyone knows the exact method or scoring system they use but I can only assume that the more achievements you have in the fields listed above, the higher your score becomes. Every little thing counts!

WCS:

60% - Academics (class rank, ACT/SAT scores, SOE Math/English teacher, athletic ECAs, non-athletic ECAs)

30% - Leadership

10% - CFA

To any BGOs: I googled "USNA Whole Candidate Score" and a multi-page SOP for Admissions came up. It appears a little dated, however it is filled with a lot of information/answers to questions that are asked over and over on this forum. I wasn't sure if it would be appropriate to post the link here. Thoughts?

I'm no expert on the Naval Academy WCS, but for WP, the SOE's actually factor into the 30% Leadership portion. Athletics, both participation and leadership (captain), also factor into the Leadership portion of the WCS.

The 60% Academics is basically split between SAT/ACT (30% -maybe 35% of total WCS) and Class Rank/GPA (25-30% of WCS). Class rank is weighted more heavily than GPA.

That just goes to show how important those standardized test scores are.

I am sure the percentages have changed over the years. However, the WCM (Whole Candidate Multiple) is more of a "behind the scenes" number that you really do not need to worry about or have direct control over. A candidate should just be concerned with striving to do the best and put max effort into everything.

USNA Whole Person Admission Process

Google:
Highlights of GAO-03-1000, a report to the Subcommittee on Defense, Committee on Appropriations, House of Representatives DOD Needs to Enhance Performance Goals and Measures to Improve Oversight of Military Academies

This report spells out the USNA whole person admissions score in detail. It places a higher emphasis (75%) on academic performance than the other service academies. This was some years ago, however
