In another thread I questioned the $40 per month fee to access Webguy. The fee was dropped to $20, and I joined. I have read the blogs, looked at the photos, and viewed the videos. After that, I am so impressed that I decided to post this unsolicited testimony.

Seldom have I seen the effort and dedication that is displayed by the Webguy staff. They work hard to capture the face of every cadet. They show us how the kids learn to march, and they go behind the scenes at Mitchell Hall, so we see how 4000 plus are fed every day.

It is truly impressive, and I had planned to cancel after 4G year... but I think it is so good, I'l stay around.

Now if USAFA could just improve our access to the terrazo........

Agreed! I heard they were building a new residence hall near the Visitor Center just for parents to stay in...

I, too, was unsure about webguy, especially in the thread about prices increasing, etc. I purchased the one year plan, and will definitely be upgrading. I love webguy. I love his blogs. I love feeling connected to my cadet, DS-Guts. I love how webguy posts random facts and videos. I love that I can download pictures and compile an album for my Cadet of BCT.
We live in New Jersey and are unable to attend Acceptance Day, which makes me terribly sad, but somehow I can participate by going to webguy.

    Thank you, web guy!
    no guts, no glory!

Perhaps you should evaluate the value of the service AFTER BCT. Most people agree that WebGuy is great during BCT.....particularly NOW that they've lowered their fees to the previous years levels. It's after BCT that the returns may not justify the cost.

You don't have to be a helicopter parent to enjoy the postings. As for the value after BCT, we will see. We are not coming to acceptance, so pics will be nice. A small reward for parents. Are all the posters on this thread parents? I think not. Until one is a parent, you think you know... but things change. It messes with your mind. :)

I almost feel like I'm spying on my daughter when I check out Webguy. My wife loves it though.

When DS was a Basic, I downloaded pictures of him onto our I-Pad to show friends who often asked "how did you get those great pics of him". It is better than spying on them but I couldn't get that quality of picture even I was there.

Having webguy has helped us, as parents, to deal with the huge life change his attendance at USAFA means. The hardest thing for us isn't the distance (we are in Connecticut), but the lack of contact. We can't talk to him once a week and hear his voice or even get a text from. And even after BCT is over, we may not be able to speak with him on any type of regular basis (depends on squadron when a new cadet gets his phone back.).

We never stop being parents. Even though we have to let him go, we never forget all those precious moments. His moving on and fulfilling his dreams is a natural, healthy and necessary process. We are thrilled to see him embracing life, but we miss all the little moments that we once shared on a daily basis with him.

His moving on also means we (as his parents) need to discover and define our new path in life. We need to figure out where we are going and how we get there now that he is making his own path.

As a 2016 parent, we loved WebGuy during BCT and still enjoying his info and pics. You're right, not being able to talk with him was the worst; he'd been away from home countless times before but always with communication. Even though it's been two years since BCT, we still talk about the mornings being online and digging thru the pics. About 95% of his USAFA scrapbook comes from pics from WebGuy and though we don't see him as much now, we love reliving the BCT experience with each year.

My daughter is in 34, GUTS. I think that is "D". I am just going by what I can read on her name tag. For which flight is your DD/DS a Cadre?

He is cadre for 32. He is the one on the webguy blog earlier this week showing the rifle maneuvers. Says his flight is doing really well proud of them all!

My DS is Guts, and I have no idea what flight. How do I get that information unless he tells me? We are not going out for A-Day, but we are attending PW. Any Guts parents attending A-Day and want to give a hug to our DS?!
