I have been training all summer for the CFA and I am not small. Female, 5'8" about 185. I'm still trying to loose the weight, but I do not know what I need to get down to. That said, i'm athletic and have muscle mass. Any help?

I had a young lady last year...I won't go into all the details but ultimately the DODMERB folks and USAFA all said: "Her weight/height...not good...do a body composition test on her."

They did...and she was "waivered" due to serious muscle mass. BUT...I was told this was "not the norm..."

Of course, the BEST COURSE of action here is, IMHO:

1. Press on with the fitness training...get the weight off.
2. Contact your physician and ask their advice: what would be a healthy weight for you based upon your body composition (muscle mass, etc.)?
3. Speak with one of our SuperMod's (He's gonna hate me) KP2001. Understand that he's a USN Physician but I would think he'd be a superb person to "bounce" a question off of. Realize he's SUPER busy and it might take him some time to respond...but he's very good.

And ultimately realize that every person is reviewed individually and that there's no "one size fits all" response.

That's just my immediate thoughts.

Flieger is 100% right, but to give you an idea, the Air Force weight standards currently say the max weight for someone your height (5'8") is 180lbs, so you are not too far away as it is.

Thank you so much. That helps a ton. I will see what KP2001 has to say, but will continue on in my goals. Thanks again!
