I've contacted my FFR and my District Representative ,and they have mentioned a meeting about nominations and such in March ,but are there any other meetings that are held ,pertaining to the academies, besides the previously mentioned? Thanks

Depends on where you are in Ohio. If you're in NE Ohio there are annual service academy events held by the congressman where representatives...BGO's, FFR's etc. brief potential candidates on the in's and out's of the admission process. Additionally, WP, USNA and USAFA hold their own events. There is a page on the forum here that usually has the dates and related information on those events.

Frequently check this page: https://extranet.dean.usma.edu/admissions/Pages/GreatLakesEventsMain.aspx
As I have mentioned before, I also live in Ohio and accepted my appointment for USMA's class of 2020 yesterday. I went to MANY events around central Ohio (events at Ohio State, North Central State College, etc.). I would HIGHLY recommend going to as many as you can. I met the academy coordinator for my congressman at my first meeting and remained in contact with him throughout the whole process, he was very helpful with all of my questions and updates (he was also the one who called me to tell me about my appointment because my Congressman was busy). It is always beneficial to have your face known. You never know, you could always meet a future interviewer for a nomination (I did!). Good luck!

Ok thanks I will do.Like I said I know getting my name out there will help me a lot .Any tips for what to do when attending these meetings?

+1 ClimberGirl. I always took a resume and if they would be involved in my process, gave them one. Also ask for business cards of FFR/BGO/ALO/nomination coordinator. Save those cards. Talk to those people and ask how you can continue to prepare. Also remember they will be busy with 2020/2021 candidates for a while, so you're relatively low on the priority list. That's fine - just being there helps.

Take notes! And go talk to people afterwards. PM if you have more questions about Ohio senators processes, etc.

Sometimes current cadets (or mids) will appear at these events. Talk to them! This is a chance to get a "feel" for life at the academy before traveling there. Ask lots of questions, but demonstrate that you have done your homework! Know the history and background of the academy. This will show your level of seriousness.

Oh ok thank you all for the help. The meetings are approaching so I was a little worried. Thanks again.
