DH and I play Trivia at a local pizza place every week. We do pretty well. We've won a few times. We were behind a good bit last night heading into the Final Question, which if we got right and bet all the points, we had a good chance of winning.

    Here was the question -
What West Point grad (at this point, we were thinking, we got this!) fired the 1st shot in defense of Ft Sumter?

NO CHEATING - what is your answer?

I'm on the road for work today. I will post the answer tonight.

Was it Major Anderson and weren't the adversaries both USMA grads?

Anderson was an instructor at USMA and the confederate leader was a student of his?

    That's my guess anyway

PGT Beauregard - I think #2 in his class of '37

Oops my bad - he ordered firing to commence on the fort, not in defense of the fort!

Since you seem to imply that it's an unexpected answer, I'm going to go with Abner Doubleday... the man credited with creating baseball!

And - this would be the correct answer! I wish you were at our table, kinnem, because we so blew this one and lost. :(
