On my Westpoint application I am medically qualified.

On my Merchant Marine application I am colorblind.

???? Do my chances go down because I am colorblind?

You need to be able to clearly distinguish green and red as a requirement for coast guard licensing. There were, unfortunately, two candidates dis-enrolled during indoctrination for failing color vision testing. You can read about it in the USMMA forum.

Yep, for the sea services you need to have normal color vision. USNA offers a few, very rare, color vision waiver for USMC only. Army only cares about vivid red/green I believe.
