I am very interested in the United States Air Force Academy but I know for a fact that I won't receive an appointment straight into the Academy due to my GPA and test scores. My GPA is a 3.28 and my SAT score is a 1660. Although my academic performance isn't stellar, I am involved in my community and sports. I am the Cadet Wing Commander of my Air Force JROTC unit, volunteer at the Veterans Affair Hospital, have over 350 hours of community service, I am a 3rd degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do and I also practice Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Kickboxing. What are my chances of getting into the USAFAPS? I also have a congressional nomination interview in a few weeks, I would gladly appreciate any advice! Thank you!

I can't give you your chances and I'm not too sure many people on the forum can unless they're on the board of admissions. All I can say is to keep pushing and try your hardest at everything. I also had my doubts when I was applying and then received my appointment right before Christmas. JROTC can help greatly with your application since you have leadership opportunities and community service. So keep your head up, don't let your confidence go out the window, and keep pushing.

+1 Fyter.

You just don't know what the future holds. I would push forward with a Plan B and C. Have you applied for an AFROTC scholarship?

OBTW, even if someone on here sits on the board, it would go against everything to tell you your true chances.
