Hi everyone, I'm new to this website but just wanted to know what my chances are of receiving an appointment this year. Below you will find all of my information regarding nominations, test scores, extracurricular activities, leadership positions, et cetera. Hopefully, you won't be bombarded.

    Athletics:
-I have not played on a varsity sport at my high school but joined a club team, Charleston Youth Lacrosse, this year. I am a longstick defenseman. My coach wrote a letter of recommendation to my Regional Commander, MAJ Tolman, about a week or two ago.

I was medically disqualified for ADD and past history of mild OCD. As of now, I am waiting to hear from MAJ Tolman, as to the status of my medical waiver. The latest news is that the Surgeon at West Point apparently recommended me for a waiver and has since submitted my file to the Admissions Committe for waiver approval.

Any input or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Well, I've had some physical stuff, but were pretty equal in everything else, except you beat me in grades just a bit. I'm on the waiting list, so you should be quite competitive.

Does the type of nomination a candidate receive have any bearing on whether or not they are placed on the National Waiting List? Someone told me that Primary Nominees have the least frequency on it.

I believe if you are a "principle" nominee, then you are ranked #1 on your representative's slate, by which they then take you first off that slate (they wait untill all apps on that slate are done, then make the decision, if I'm correct). You have a VERY good chance if you have gotten a principle nomination, if that's what you meant by "primary nominee."

The way I understand it is that if you are the principal nom and medically qualified you get in. I'm betting as soon as you get the official word on your waiver you will also get the official word on your appointment.

If you are a principal nominee then you're either in or you're disqualified. Those are the only options.

I'm reading over the letter Congressman Brown sent me and it says the following: "It is my pleasure to inform you that I have submitted your name to the United States Military Academy as Principal Nominee from South Carolina First Congressional District for the class of 2014." I have no idea why I said "Primary". Whoops.
