So, last night I had the sit down talk with my boyfriend of 8 months to explain to him what it actually meant that I was pursuing a military career. Comments he'd made the past few weeks had made me nervous that he didn't quite get it. So, anyway, it was a good thing I did. When I mentioned getting deployed and being relocated often, he looked at me quizzically and asked, "What do you mean deployment?" Apparently, as a female officer, I was supposed to be assigned one base and a desk job for twenty years. This later led to his question, "Why do you want to do this? I mean, when I graduate college I'll be able to support you." Ha! Needless to say, the relationship is over. Anyone else have interesting stories to share?
