Received a letter from USMMA that said status is HOLD. All paperwork and nomination are in and posted in file. What are the chances for an acceptance?

Hold is the USMMA equivalent of wait list. It means you still have a chance depending on how many appointees decide not to attend. You can contact admissions for more information. You should be sure to update your file with anything positive, such as grades, sports, any type of recognition, etc. Several appointments are made off the hold list each year. Good luck!

So if you do get wait listed but not an appointment, do you get offered prep school (NMMI)?

I wasn't offered prep school last year, but I didn't look into it either. I went to a reputable University, joined ROTC, built my resume, and now have my appointment.

If you are on hold status and would like a prep school opportunity, you should contact admissions and let them know.
