What does it mean?

I haven't heard anything yet and from reading the posts here lots of other people haven't either. I'm triple qualified and have a nomination and my blue gold officer says I'm a pretty competitive candidate. Does it mean anything that we haven't heard yet?

Does it simply mean that they haven't gotten to review our files yet?

Does it mean that we are competitive for the last few spots and we are on the bubble? are they waiting for people who have been offered to accept or decline to see if there is a place for us?

Or does it mean that they haven't gotten around to mailing out our t w e?

I doubt anyone actually knows the answer to these questions. But I feel better just having asked the question out loud! I keep praying that whatever should happen will, but that doesn't make the waiting any easier.

All the same questions

Hopefully we'll get a BGO on here to enlighten us. The waiting is excruciating!

Sounds like TWEs are still coming

I just read on another thread that someone from PA received the dreaded TWE in the mail today :(. I guess they are still coming and, hopefully, so are the BFEs!

I'm in Pennsylvania 4th district, didnt receive anything today. I am prepared for a TWE...but hoping for the BFE. I can't think about much else!

Bottom line is...no news is good news. Two years ago we wentthrough this with my DS. He was eventually put on the wait list. I do not wish this on any candidate or parent. He actually walked the stage on graduation day (June 14th) with his phone in his pocket! Very few get put on the wait list, and even fewer get in from it, but until you get the TWE, there is hope! Breathe. Continue stalking, and enjoy every moment of their senior year! Soon they will be off, plan A or plan B, they are resilient, us, less so! Hang in there, and best wishes!

I just called a buddy that I went to Boys State with here in Pa, and he didnt get anything in the mail today either. Seriously, what does it mean? Anybody know?

From years past it seems like the end of March begins the downward spiral of TWE. I hope I am wrong and this year is different but last year it seems the posts at this time of the cycle were not very positive. In addition someone posted that 1000+ appointments went out by early March. If that is correct then I would think there are not many more BFE left. Again, I hope I am wrong since my DS is stilling waiting with many of you.

Any BGO's out there who have any inside scoop? Have all the BFE from the national pool already been sent? Any idea where they are in the cycle?

Looking at the official class of 2016 thread on here, there are only 8 BFE announcements since March! I know the forum is a small representation but I still would have expected more BFE announced on here this month.

My RD said our slate still hasn't been reviewed. And called MOC office and they said USNA still hasn't reviewed our slate as well and the only people who've heard are the ones with LOAs or the ones not triple qualified.

Since several people on this thread have asked for some input by a BGO or someone else "in the know", but none of the BGOs have answered (but have posted on other threads). Is it reasonable to assume that they don't want to be the bearer of bad news? I fear that the silence is telling.

Please, if you know something, or have been around long enough to know what is happening in the admissions office at this point in the process, please say something. These are big are big boys and girls and can take the truth, after all, they are begging for it!

Please don't ignore them.

We are not ignoring you, we just don't have too much advice to give at this point. Once your application is complete you are in the hands of USNA Admissions who are accountable only to the Superintendent and their own schedule.
April 15th can be the last day that notifications are sent out and some candidates may not hear until days after the 15th.
At this point a BGO's advice will be to have Plan B in action.
Keep in mind that there are many 3Q'd applicants and many will not receive appointments.
If you were one of my candidates, I would counsel to say the chances of an appointment are less than they would have been in November, but to not despair until you receive that TWE.

To add to USNA1982BGO that BGOs are, for the most part, not in the know, recently many different threads are being posted (on an almost daily basis) on current status, waiting, and chances/statistics. It is hard to keep up with the growing threads AND postings, essentially, asking the same question in many different ways; this ISN'T going to increase/decrease anyone's chances, it isn't going to speed up any timelines, and isn't going to ease people's stress.

I recommend that we stop posting these threads, focus attention elsewhere (i.e. do something that is distracting), and keep chugging along. From someone who has been through the Admissions process twice, you just kind of have to ride it out and find ways for this process NOT TO dominate your life.

While USNA Admissions also offers the notification deadline of 15 April, I would suspect some candidates may not know until past that. In my first cycle, I didn't get a letter until April 2X and that was supposedly with less candidates than this year.

You are right, of course, but your advice is VERY difficult to actually implement! This process has dominated our lives for quite a while since the entire process with all of its associated hoops is intentionally difficult in order to see who really wants to become a naval officer and who believe that attending Usna is the best means to that end.

The envelope that we are waiting for not only dictates the next four years but for someit will define the rest of our lives. I'll be disappointed if I get a Twe, but at least I can move along mentally with plan b (I have already accepted at plan b.) While I'm trying to distract myself with running, studying, reading...if ever there was something to be stressed about this is it!...and with that, I'm going to go for a run...again!

Gone unsaid in so many words is the fact that there are a multitude of reasons that you may not have heard from Admissions by now, and you listed several in your original posting. Also, USNA is working with a smaller projected class for 2016 and undoubtedly has a good number of offers outstanding awaiting a decision by the candidates. At this stage it is highly unlikely that a large bundle of new offers will be hitting the mail. April 15 obviously was selected as a cut date for a good reason: it was considered to be fair date to give candidates a final decision so they could get on with plans B, C, D, ad finitum; it also provided Admissions time to react to late decisions on the outstanding offers. Just a few years ago this very process continued well into May and even June. When I started as a BGO in 1991 I worked with a BGO who got his notice the night before I-Day... fortunately, he didn't have to pack much as he and his dad drove all night to get him to NAVY in time for induction. Best wishes to all who still are on the fence, it is gutwrenching, I know - I also went through the process twice. It was very worth the effort!
