What happens when a waiver is granted?

Do fireworks explode? The heavens open and rain down puppies and kitties? Ha!

Are you notified if a waiver is granted or does the DQ fall off the portal?

Shoulder is rehabilitating extremely well - full range of motion after 3 weeks and cleared to run. Still wanting to play football and I cringe daily thinking of it! Love to see him play ball but it is just too big a risk. ACT score for writing came back much higher and composite rose 1 overall point but still in the 99%.

The waiting game is a long one and only will get longer.

Dq on the portal. Waiver requests in. It will be a long wait, but I am hoping for rainbows and unicorns [emoji3]

Just to clarify - his shoulder has NOT been waived yet. He has to send in his surgery reports etc when he is without restrictions.

Wishing, hoping, dreaming for fireworks, puppies and kitties plus a side of unicorns and rainbows. :)

Your DoDMERB portal status will say 'Waiver Granted'

Having lived through 2 DQs and 2 Waivers granted - seeing those 2 words on the portal FAR outweigh fireworks, puppies, kittens, rainbows and unicorns! :D

Indeed. I imagine the timeline is highly variable. Our dq is for a tree but allergy. No history of anaphylactic reaction. Waivers requested from both Army and Navy. Waiting is no fun. Working on plan b.

How do you know when the waiver is requested by the SA?

portal shows "pending waiver USNA", does that change once it's been requested?

I can only speak of our experience. He received the DQ on 9/16 while he was at USNA CVW. He can be a portal stalker. On 9/18 he received the email from USAFA that they were requesting a waiver, 9/19 USNA and 9/20 USMA followed. It shows when his medical stuff was reviewed and when a letter was sent. He has only received one of the letters thus far. He goes back to the orthopedist tomorrow for a check. His DQ is in process so it will be awhile.

The waiting is the pits. But it's better than a TWE right now. ;)

Hmm. We had a dq updated and letter sent last week. No emails though. Portal reads pending waiver. Now I am not sure if it has been requested. I assume so, but it might be too early. Also it is Columbus Day. Forgot that until the mailbox was empty

Son only received an email from USAFA and a follow up to not worry about sending anything until he is without restrictions. He goes to the orthopedist tomorrow but it's highly unlikely it will be this soon. He is chomping at the bit to play football but it's just too risky. Try telling that to a 2 time All Ohio player. Ha!

My husband is going with him and I'm sure I will get the play by account. He was in contact with his RC at USMA about the waiver too. He had a letter attached to his portal for from USMA. No other communication from USNA other than the mystery letter. If it doesn't come this week, he needs to follow up.

We will all get through this! I think the kids are more patient than we are. Mine is optimistic! Patience has never been my forte [emoji3]

Buff81 is a wise person. Son was granted a waiver on 10/18 and I am pretty sure his feet have not touched the ground since he found out yesterday. Amazing! :)!!!!!!!

Now to wait for a nomination and an appointment. Keep the faith!
