OK this guy is getting a little scary.

It may be a good idea to delete this thread, after keeping a copy along with this person's IP address.

I agree with Jcleppe; that last post gave me chills. I know the mods are paying close attention to this. Right, y'all?

Agreed on deleting this thread - nothing positive is going to come from continuing this discussion....

Yes. Watching closely.

But - I prefer to let threads die instead of closing, unless they start to get really nasty.
I think this one can die as there is not much left to say.

harknock96 - you've fired some shots and taken some shots. You've received some good, unemotional advice. Your original question has been answered.
In summary:
- Control what you can. Handle what you can't.
- Don't make excuses. You are given a set of responses on R-day that you can only give to questions asked. One is " No excuse, Sir/Ma'am"
- Your academic evaluation (weighted 60% of your whole evaluation) is based on class rank and SAT/ACT scores. Take both SAT/ACT - more than once. Study and prep for them and do well. If your school is deemed a competitive school (based on your school's profile), you will be given leeway on your class rank.
- Candidates get in all the time with 3.8 GPAs and lower.
- There are folks in the Admissions dept at West Point that read this forum.

advice

Thanks, the advice really will be used as template for my future. Lots of things to learn here. It would have ended sooner but peopled said some person comments I had to fire back on. Anyhow, what did I say that is scary?

All depends . . .

One way to look at your comments is you vs rest of the world, your own words

I will worry about me and nobody else.

I am a one-man solider until my life gains value.

I will only worry about me.

I will forget about helping anyone else , till its my time to help them.

A young person like me cannot afford to waste time with compassion especially considering my lack of resources.

Now, its time to be greedy and do what I must.

Adding few words here and there or deleting some words might make your words less scary.

"I will worry about [what I can control] . . . . "

" I am a one-man solider [sometimes as certain things are my individual challenges] . . . ."

"I will forget about helping anyone [that doesn't want my help] . . . ."

It would have ended sooner but peopled said some person comments I had to fire back on.

Kid, you're still not getting it. It would have ended sooner if you would have just shut up. But you didn't. (Don't worry, I know it's hard... I haven't always known when to shut up, myself.)

Remember, many people here have already experienced the issues you're running into. Some graduated top of their classes, or top 5% or 10%. Many here were accepted to a service academy. A good portion of those folks as graduated, and served in one of the five branches of the military.

Of everything I said above, you have zero experience, yet. So the advice of folks who have been there, and done that: close your mouth and open your ears. Re-read what people have said, and figure out how anything you have said has added to the collective intelligence or understanding here (hint: it hasn't).

The world owes you nothing. I was very, very fortunate to realize this at a young age.

I think this thread has run its course. I'll close it for further discussion.
