What to bring for Indoc

Again, Heyriddle is spot on, you will have limited options to wear anything but KP issued clothing. If you are fortunate to get a sponsor family they might even let you keep some clothes/civies at their house so when you visit, you can relax. My DS has a sponsor family...he is blessed - they are super. You will learn/hear about signing up for a sponsor family during Indoc or shortly after. As I said, my son is blessed with his sponsor family and I would give serious consideration to signing up. Based on last year everybody that requested a sponsor family did not get a family. As Heyriddle said, you do well in classes and get honor roll (Gold/Silver Star) you will probably be granted liberty. If you hang around with the class clown/trouble maker you could get restrictions/demerits. It must have really sucked when parents came for parents weekend and most Mids are/were able to leave the academy for an overnight and sleep in a hotel bed and eat anything but Delano and the ones put on restriction either could not leave or had to report back to KP before midnight (Cinderella Liberty) - thank God we were able to spend time with our DS overnight and watch him eat whatever he wanted and even watch him sleep.

Thank you for all the advice. I have ordered the extra set of PT gear. I also have two pairs of white running shoes for Indoc.

Since the replies to this post have been so informative, I was wondering if anyone could tell me what life is like after Indoctrination, more specifically the clothes we will be wearing; we will only use the running shoes for PT, correct?
You will be in some form of an official uniform at all times. Mostly that is either khakis or PT gear. No civilian attire will be authorized, basically the entire year.

Plebe year really isn't that different than indoc except that your schedule will only be determined by your class schedule (no morning PT) and you will have some peace if you are studying. Some of the shenanigans taper off, no more bracing for example, but you will still be expected to follow most of the rules. You will still have plebe knowledge tests, when going anywhere outside you will either be marching or running depending on the number you are with, your door will be open unless you are changing, you will still have cleaning stations, there will still be a limited number of plebes authorized in room and most delano rules still apply.

I was on restriction for the first Plebe Liberty. Probably saved me a wicked hangover. . . .ah, but times have changed, as has the legal NY drinking age. . . . I forget what the rule was about being in uniform away from school. I do remember changing into civvies in that nasty bathroom at the Great Neck train station. Not that the facilities in Penn Station were any better. . . . .
