My Blue and Yellow Officer has just contacted me today telling me that she was going to be there for me throughout the application process. I had asked her about Letters of Recommendation for requesting a Nomination. She sent me a download about asking for Recommendations, explaining what was needed and such. The one thing I don't understand is your Math or English teacher filling out an online survey over the Summer years. Where is this survey? Do I have to ask them to fill that out before I ask them to write a letter for me? Can anyone help clear this up for me? I would greatly appreciate it!

    Hi khaddy,
Good question. This process is a bit confusing. When your candidate web page (CIS) opens you will be asked to type in the email address of your math and English teacher. These two teachers will then be sent an email with a link they will click. That link will lead them to a series of questions about you. These are the only letters of recommendations you will need for United States Naval Academy. For the nominations from your members of congress you may need actual written letters.

    Vista,
When does your candidate web page open?

khaddy - It's Blue and Gold Officer (or BGO) not Blue and Yellow Officer. Just to perhaps save you some future embarrassment. I can't answer your question about when the Candidate Web Page opens. Perhaps when you initially start and save your online application? But I'm just guessing.

    Kinnem,

I know what the actual name is. My father is a Lieutenant Commander in the Naval Reserve and it is an inside joke we have due to his past times. Thank you so much though for pointing it out, considering I only wrote it because him and I were talking about it at the time of posting that question. :)

Think I have the answer to your question. From the admissions bulletin:

khaddyx, you have legitimate questions but you will get a lot further with this forum if you do some basic reading on your own before you pepper the forum with with multiple threads and questions easily answered by yourself.

(1). Read the entire Academy website in addition to the Admissions section
(2). Read the Academy Catalog (found on the website) with the exception of the course descriptions of every class you would take. You are a long way from needing that info.
(3). Get the book "The Naval Academy Candidate Book: How to Prepare, How to Get In, How to survive" by Sue Ross. This is THE BEST preparation that is out there on the Academy admission process. Found easily on Amazon.com

    Good luck to you.

If the Blue and Gold officer has contacted you, that means you have already completed the initial application, perhaps in applying for NASS.

The next step starts either tomorrow or Friday, when letters from Admissions to competitive candidates are mailed out. The letters will provide those candidates with instructions on how to open their portal and complete the rest of the application. Within said portal will be a place to enter the contact information for your Junior Math and English teachers. Those teachers will then be sent direct communications from admissions advising said teachers to go to a certain link and complete an evaluation of the candidate.

It is best to obtain summer contact information for those teachers and to prep them for what is coming.

Back story. My father and his Blue and Gold Officer would make jokes with each other. My father would call his Officer, Blue and Yellow because his tan was funny.... Longer story short, him and I were talking about it as I was writing this.... I AM SORRY :)
