What to do, what to do

The beautiful thing about the Service Academies is that if you want to be there, you will eventually be Appointed.

While I agree that persistence is an admirable quality, it is not fair to say that trying again and wanting it badly enough are indicators that an appointment is imminent.

Thank you all for the awesome advice and encouragement. I will be working hard this year to receive that appointment. I can't wait to serve this great country!

The fact that you are a female and played football with males is a big plus in my eyes. The Naval Academy is still 80% men and 20% women. My DD alternates her description as either living in a frat house or having a lot of brothers. IMHO the fact that you are used to being around guys on their level in a very physically fit way would make your adjustment into the Naval Academy lifestyle a little easier. So whether you continue with the sport or not, the fact that you did it is very much to your credit.

Thank you! I worked hard to earn that respect from my brothers on my team. I want to show USNA that playing football wasn't for the cool local newspaper articles or just being able to say I am a football player. I decided to play football because I KNEW it would be a challenge. As a Marine, I will be faced with even greater challenges! So football was a great opportunity to experience being uncomfortable, physical pain, hard work, and commitment to a team.
