For R-Day I was thinking of wearing my USAFA pt shirt and my navy shorts. Any other suggestions?

Actually, I was going to wear athletic shorts and a tee shirt. If I show up in my low quarters, will they make me change into the issues ones? I was going to keep the issues ones for dress/inspections.

Any suggestions?

If you wear your low quarters, make sure they are broken-in and semi-comfortable. R-day involves a lot of walking/standing around in lines waiting for various things, which is hard on your feet. I saw kids that got awful blisters from wearing their brand new low quarters on R-day.

Otherwise, wear what you want. But if you wear anything "unique" or obnoxious, you will stand out :thumb:

I suggest wear something you'd go out to the city (NYC) in. Only because you don't know the next opportunity you will have access to your civilian clothes at home and may need some for a weekend pass.

My Plebe year I must have had 3-4 sets of civilian clothes, just saying.

Mine wore khakis, a tshirt and his running shoes. Many others did the same but with a polo shirt. These were his only civilian clothes until we were able to send him a few things later on.

From memory, past years were told to report in their low quarters. That was what 99% of 2015 we saw were in.

Easily 9 out of 10 were in shorts and a T or Polo type shirt with the (oh so attractive) low quarters and dress socks.

Past years the appointees changed fairly quickly into PT shorts & T with low quarters. That's pretty much all you see marching around once they leave the issue lines.

Realistically, any civvy clothes are normally not relevant until well after A-day. And even then it will mostly be "cadet casual" for the rare times it's not W/G or similar.

Civvy belt, khaki pants, and leather casual shoes (deck shoes, Timberlands) are typical ask's post R-day.
