When does West Point usually start notifying people about whether or not they've been accepted into the SLE program? Will it appear in the portal or via email or regular mail?

Declination takes longer than acceptance. Some people got theirs In two weeks other right before the deadline.

So if I got mine in on day one, I should be hearing back within the next couple weeks if it's a yes?

You may, I have heard of candidates receiving them months later, some days later. The process is frustrating and is similar to that of the admissions process. With hard work and diligence you can keep yourself ahead of the pack. It's good you found the forum so early as it is a wealth of information on one of the most difficult college application processes in the country. Don't bet on a sure acceptance unless you're a total rockstar (i.e. 33+ ACT, Team Captain, Class president, etc.). I'll send you a PM.

Considering the deadline for SLE is later in the spring, some top candidates that apply early will find out in the first round/waive of acceptances, but admissions won't release all the spots since many juniors will be finding out about SLE later as the RCs make their recruitment efforts. Most early applicants will be wait listed. Each month they will fill more spots off the top of the wait list as they get a better picture of who the top prospects are and who are the best candidates from each district.

West Point on FB answered this question. Said it could take about a month.

Last year I applied on the first day that the app opened in January, and did not find out that I had been accepted until March.

    Hope this helps!

Does anyone know when the waves of acceptance letters will be sent out? I know that previous years had the first of march, etc., so I was wondering if there had been set waves this year. Thanks!

Was this for SLE or appointment? I know the FB page said appointments were sent out, so just making sure.

These are appointments, not SLE acceptances. WP Admissions on FB says applications for SLE will be reviewed beginning Feburary 1, with responses beginning mid-February. WP Admissions page on FB is a good place to watch/ask questions about dates.

Just out of curiosity, are SLE applicants selected in a similar way to the WCS used for admission?

I applied for SLE on the day it opened this year. Got my acceptance Jan 31st via email notification and portal update.
    Good luck!

i don't mean to intrude, but is a 2160 on the sats (750 cr, 740 math) just as good as a 33 for the act?

They are very similar, I'd probably give your SAT scores a slight edge on a 33 ACT.

Try to improve your writing score a bit. A 670 writing isn't on par with a 33 ACT. Your 2 others scores sort of balance it out though.
