When could I find out?

Do presidential noms get appointed later? We still haven't heard anything, and it's feeling a bit like there aren't going to be many appointments left...

It is my understanding that there isn't a separate appointment session for Presidential Noms. Sometimes an early appt is offered based a Presidential Nom (if your application is complete) for a candidate they really want before the Congressional Nom process even occurs. Have seen that happen. Candidate doesn't even need or receive an LOA since LOAs are meant for the Cong Nom process. This is very rare.

In most cases the Pres Nom is like having a MOC Nom, but you didn't win the slate. I don't think it is treated as a separate special category. It is a great Nom to have because it provides flexibility to admissions, giving them one more option to use for where to charge your appt if the SA has selected you for an appt. I've seen elsewhere that about 100 candidates each year get charged to the Pres Nom for each class.

Hang in there. Appointments are made through April and into May with a few "last minute" apps made in June. Make sure you have a good Plan B.

If you're only looking at the appointments thread that gives you that "feeling", remember that those posting represent a small fraction (historically around 10%) of where things are in the process. It's only early March....lots of time to go.

I don't want to be the Debbie Downer....rather be realistic....everyone on this forum MUST understand that everyone isn't going to get appointments. Everyone SHOULD keep HOPE, but at some point....some get appointments (and have) and some will not. About half of those who are fully qualified (3Q + nomination) will still receive turndowns -- simply due to slates, competition, and a limited number of spots. As many others have said...as of now, no news is good news.

My take on the appointments thread is that it's about up to 80, so if that typically represents 10% then about 800 or so appointments have gone out already. It is my understanding that the NAPS appointments haven't gone out yet and that seems to make up a relatively large portion of the remaining spots. My DS has a very competitive application but did not win his slate. Just looking at the numbers it seems like his chances are very slim at this point. Still waiting of course. Already has at least one plan B in place.

3boysandadog I think your numbers are off target at this time. Using your numbers, that only leaves 20-50 more people coming off the NWL. The admissions people that I have talked to at USNA and out and about (they are human and need food too), it is now more of a numbers and charged to game. IMHO, as I cant speak for others still waiting, I dont care as to how or who Im charged to, just lt me get that elusive BFE! Yes, my back up plans are solid, but I would still choose USNA. As a side note, for some sports, USNA has some of the country's best facilities-crew!

For all of those still along for this roller coaster ride, at this stage most are in either 3Q are in process of becoming 3Q. We all have put forth our best effort and punched our own individual ticket to get on this roller coaster, I just keep remembering lyrics "If you wanna live life on your own terms you gotta be willing to crash and burn---N.Sixx"

I kept a list of my "forum friends" last year. When they would post the receipt of a TWE or BFE I would make a note next to their name (hence, why my kids call this my "crack forum"), but looking back on the list FAR AND AWAY the most notices were received the first week of April, and more specifically, April 3rd. File this is the "FWIW" column--

Well I am very happy to be hopefully wrong on this and we are still on the roller coaster for sure!

For what it is worth. I was trolling through the posts from this time last year (around page 50) and the first reported TWE was on March 4, 2015. But appointments continued to be reported. Yes it is crunch time.

md403, I wish you the best of luck! Though I have to suggest this: try to relax and let the process play out. You mentioned in another thread about spending time on the yard and talking to folks in admissions. IMHO not only it will not help, it put more stress on candidates and parents on this forum. Just my two cents.
