I'm 3q'ed with two noms and while I know that doesn't mean that I'm guaranteed an appointment when do the bulk of appointments usually go out?

Most go out in Feb and March. This is b/c congressional slates are due to USNA Jan. 31. Some come earlier but some don't come until the deadline. Once USNA has those slates, they can start matching up triple Q'ed candidates with noms and hand out appointments.

Obviously, some people already have appointments and some will get them April and later. But most probably go out in mid-Feb through late March.

Our son was in your exact position at this time last year. Didnt find out until late Feb. Keep the faith!

His nominating MOC called him to let him know that he had received an apointment. About a week later, the blue folder came in the mail. Good luck. I am rooting for you!

When you receive an appt, USNA notifies your Representative and gives him/her about a week to contact you. He/she may or may not do so. At that point, USNA mails out your appt certificate. About a week after that (long after you know), USNA notifies your BGO (updating your status in BGO system).

Hi, I have two nominations as well, but I thought being 3q'd meant that you had three nominations, so can you explain what 3q'd is please?

3q'ed means that you are physically, medically, and scholastically qualified for a SA

Indeed ...being 3Qed means that candidates are now QUALIFIED to compete for an appointment. Think about being 3 Q'ed as "Roman numeral I" in your outline ....

"Roman numeral II" is the nomination process

"Roman numeral III" is USNA admissions merging I & II to determine who are offered appointments, the behind the scenes stuff resulting in thick/thin envelopes.

"Roman numeral IV" is the accepting or declining offer of apppointment and what happens leading up to I Day

"Roman numeral V" = I Day

Nice analogy Whistlepig, that'll help explain to everyone I know how the process works :thumb:

Does everyone get a letter if your 3'qd? Or are their some that are but never receive a letter from USNA?

There seem to be a fair # of candidates who are in fact 3 Qed but do not receive the proforma "Dear Candidate" letter noting such. This one is consistently inconsistent. Not receiving the letter is not worth getting worked up about, as many current Midshipmen could attest.
