So I was watching a video of remarks the Supe was giving the newly reformed brigade last August (2014). He mentioned the Class of 2018 and though they were just through with Plebe Summer he said that they were not yet "formally part of the brigade". So then, can someone please tell me when the Plebes "formally" become part of the brigade? Video is on You Tube if you want to check it out. Thanks!!!

This speech was on Sunday night, Aug. 17. The Plebes had a formal "turnover parade" the next day (Aug. 18th) and formally joined the Brigade. Classes started on Aug. 20 (Wednesday). Text from last summer's info:
"The Aug. 18 parade is the “Turnover Parade,” where the Plebe Summer midshipman leadership turns the plebes over to the Brigade of Midshipmen leadership. This event truly marks the end of Plebe Summer."

JShawshank is absolutely right. The brigade comes back for reform in mid August. There are a few days the Plebes are there and Upperclass are all back, but they are not turned over yet. They hold a formal turnover parade a few days later and usually later that day is 'hello night' in which the Plebes now realize they just went from a 1 to 10 ratio and are now 3 to 1!

Is it "hello" night or more like "Hell-o" night? :)

Hahaha. I was being nice for all the Moms and Dads on here and leaving some mystery for the future Plebes! Plus it isn't that bad, it's the academic year then so they are much more limited on what's allowed, plus classes won't start for a few more days usually so they don't have that to worry about yet. And it's air conditioned now! Half the misery was all being thrown in a back shaft hallway with a million people in August! It was miserably hot and loud.
