I read online somewhere that the boys get an october break? I was wondering if this still applies for the boys who just started Indoc in the class of 2015? or if maybe that was something special from last year.

You need to follow the regimental calendar and remember that liberty is not "guaranteed" for anyone. Liberty for Plebe Candidates and Plebes is ALWAYS at the RC's direction.

And some winter sports also interfere with fall break as to when your plebe actually gets to leave such as swimming. although I do not know the specifics.

Your DS/DD will usually tell you when they can leave and come home. Other than that, if it is a long weekend, they usually just stay on campus unless you live really close, or go to one of their friends house.
Other than that, check the regimental calendar and email their coach if they play a sport to find out when the last practice is or when they need to report back for the next practice.

That first weekend break, I remember our DS totally surprising us by flying himself home (to CA) that Friday night. We were stunned and speechless when he walked through our front door in his SDB's. It was a brief, but awesome visit.

Has anyone heard anything about the kids being able to see parents on Sunday, July 31st?

Go to the parents website http://kpparents.com and look at the news items. There is an alumni/midshipmen 5K run and information there. You can volunteer to help at the run, but you will not be allowed to visit with your candidate.

Additionally, if you attend church after indoc you will be allowed in the church, but you will not be allowed to sit with your plebe candidate, or be allowed any time to visit after church.

Best thing is to let KP do it's thing and wait until Parents Weekend. It will be well worth the wait, and the visit over Parents Weekend will be that much better.

Just a few years ago, there was a fall break, that spanned a little over a week. Someone decided that this was not necessary, since Midshipmen are robots who dont need breaks, and did away with the break. To make it up to us, what did they do? They gave us the tuesday and monday off before Thanksgiving, which then can include that weekend before thanksgiving into the new Fall Break. This is clearly makes sense from a logistical/financial perspective, but I believe that it costs us (the students) dearly.
