After you complete the whole application and the portal shows no more missing documents, how long does it take for you to find out if you are accepted?

It varies for a number of reasons. Probably since you are early, expect a few weeks or so.

Probably not in a few week or so unless OP already has a nomination to USMMA.

I was thinking the same MemberLG. Most MoCs are just starting up with reviewing their candidates. I remember our DSs friend found out beginning of Dec., because his nomination did not come through until @ Thanksgiving. (NC)

Thanks, I know you can't get a final decision till you have secured a nomination. I was just wondering if you would get an idea on the rest of your application pending the nomination part. I hope so we are really excited and anxious!!!

A great deal depends on your total package, your state and a few other things. I am not asking you to answer any of these thoughts/questions, but if you are an Eagle Scout/Gold Award, your ACT/SAT test scores are at the top, your GPA/class rank along with the classes you have taken are the highest/toughest, you are involved in sports/student gov't/other extra activity and you were/are a captain/officer, you have volunteered at an organization for some time etc, you could be what USMMA wants and they could send you an LOA before you hear from your MOC if they are going to nominate you. If you do receive an LOA, forward it to your MOC it will probably help with a nomination. If you are an athlete, contact the coach and fill out the recruiting papers or send them video of you or your times for your sport.

If you have not heard, the academic dean at USMMA will be leaving soon so that could slow down some things because the academy may prioritize their efforts to start getting a new dean and then get back to the selection process for the incoming plebe candidates...I am guessing as I do not know what or how USMMA will place their priorities.

I can tell you that my DS did receive an LOA in November and was nominated, received an appointment offer and accepted the appointment before Christmas...but things change each and every year.

Best of Luck to you and continue to do you best.

I didn't find out until two months before Indoctrination (May) , but that was many years ago. I don't believe that they sent out LOAs or even gave any indication to eligibility prior to getting any nominations. But I could be wrong. . . .

I found out in April, 2 months before indoctrination. But I applied in March, so maybe that was the issue.

My son had all of his things done in January and he found out in April. Don't try to hold your breath because you will need to breathe.

My DS received an loa in December. He was one of the early ones for the class of 2019 as we could see acceptances on the parents page for 2019 students after they accepted their appointment. He received his appointment early January after paperwork from Dodmerb, and nomination were finalized. Although we knew they all were coming. Congressman called to tell him on Christmas Eve. Best Christmas present!! One thing DS learned through the process is patience really helps. Good luck and best wines as you work toward n appointment to the class of 2020.

According th admissions, the bulk of responses will go out starting mid-March. Many at that point will be put on Hold and some won't get the final word until early May. If you are one of the few to get an LOA, please don't sit on it any longer than necessary. Around that March-April timeframe, the quota from your state gets filled and everyone goes into the nationally ranked (instead of state ranked) pool. If you decline your appointment after that timeframe, it opens up a national spot, but it is no longer reserved for your state.

I don't want to completely contradict Mman, but to all you applicants, whether or not you have an LOA, take your time and make your decision. It is a big decision - don't feel pressured to try to reserve spots for your state. That is not your problem; make the decision in whatever time it takes.
And rest assured, sometime next year there will be someone posting about leaving an academy shortly after arrival - and people on here will slam them for "taking a spot from someone else". If you receive an appointment, you earned it - and you can take as much time as you want in making your decision to accept or not.

I said, please don't sit on it "any longer than necessary". So no contradiction.

I had a back up plan and was all set to go to the South Dakota School of Mines for a civil engineering career. . . . but dropped all of that once my appointment came through, but I am like that. I like to cover all bases. . . .

Admissions just started giving out LOA this week. They will continue to evaluate kids every so often. At that point they will give a LOA, Hold, or drop. Appointments will start when nominations go out.

If you are a top notch candidate then you should get a LOA soon if all you stuff is in. (Nomination, medical, CFA excluded)

Our DS was a solid candidate and timeline was this... Dec 16, Nomination // Letter of Acceptance, pending medical waiver Feb 9 // Waiver granted March 18 // Appointment received Mar 20. My guess at the time, would be that about 20% of the class had received notice before that, but post January. Many were still going out into April and May. Waiting is a long slow painful process - particularly if you have any medical waiver requirements. All you can do is check the website and continue to work diligently on any incomplete issues. ...and keep taking the SAT's. My DS took them 4 times. He just kept focusing on math and taking them over and over and over. USMMA will accept every new score and only pays attention to the single highest score in each category. A subsequent lower score does not hurt in any way. Also - CFA is Pass/Fail. Just get it done and get it in.

Congratulations. DS is a current plebe. He is on his way home for first break at end of the first trimester. It is so exciting to get that LOA and then seems forever for nominations and in our case a Dodmerb waiver. DS had all done and appointment by mid January. There is a FB class of 2020 page started you could join that if you have any questions and there will also be a page for parents of 2020. We found this very helpful especially with all the paper work required. Welcome to the KP family.. It has truly been a welcoming and supportive community.
On a side note a cant wait to see DS he stopped visit friends fir a couple of days in my way to fit him later today.. Yippee
