If my DS is lucky enough to be appointed a 4 year scholarship as a college freshmen when would summer training begin? This coming summer or after his sophomore year? Thanks

If he has a 4 year scholarship it will start this summer with CORTRAMID. He'll spend a week with surface warfare, a week with subs, a week with aviation, and a week with Marines. Of course I'm assuming he passes the PFT and contracts.

EDIT: For clarity that's the summer between freshman and sophomore year.

So just to be sure I was clear, he has applied again this year for the 4 year scholarship from a SMC. He is a freshmen in college now.

So if he gets the scholarship he starts this summer.

Thank you for the quick response

Yes, assuming he contracts by then. I don't see any reason why he wouldn't.

I must respectfully disagree. Members of my class who picked up the 4 year scholarship did not attend summer training this year with the rest of my classmates that were on scholarship out of high school. Their training starts after their sophomore year with the option of 2/C cruise or CORTRAMID as a 2/C MIDN (if there is space available).

I'll defer to the wisdom of anyone who attends South Carolina. Excellent unit!
