How long after receiving a principal nomination should a 3Q'd Candidate with a principal Nom expect a notice of appointment?

My WP cadet was in the same situation last year. Received his principal nomination the first week of December and was 3Q'd. Had to wait for that first wave of appointments the last week of February for the coveted BFE! Patience and flexibility is essential at West Point. Learn it now and it will benefit you. Best of luck!

Probably late February. However, if you are 3Qd and have a Principle nomination you will - by Law - be given an offer.
Several of us in the Field Force are trying to get Admissions to get these offers out early - why wait when these offers are required by Law. However, I do not expect they will go out early (before late February).

Probably costs more to do them as onesies and twosies, but you would know that better than I.

No rolling admissions...

Class of 2017 was the first class to be selected since rolling admissions had been discontinued. The selection board still met on Tuesdays and began the process, I’m speculating in mid-August to September. When rolling admissions was being used appointments went out in onesies and twosies. Thus we saw offers given in August and so forth, many being LOAs.

In my opinions, the selection board still sorts out applications and continues to choose early when they meet. When nominations come in, this solidifies their choices. By the time application dead line has passed. The majority of the class has been selected and the bulk or majority of the BFE for the class is ready to be sent out.

This is difficult to predict since this is the second class to have been formed with the new process. However, it’s still in the best interest of an applicant to complete it early. One of WP goals was to notify applicants early so they may continue on with Plan B application deadlines.

I hope this helps.
