my file was complete well before the first board and my portal status has simply said "boarded" since the first board and I haven't heard anything else. When should I expect to get something now the second board has passed?

shouldn't you have received something that said you were being deferred to the second board? I thought if they passed you over but were still considering you, you would receive some type of notification?

Others will know more than I, but it seems to me each ROTC is different.

I can't speak to Navy ROTC, but the situation you are describing seems to be more AF ROTC related rather than Army ROTC.

For instance (at least this year), if you met the first AF ROTC board and weren't awarded a scholarship, they tell you in an email whether you are going to be re-boarded or not.

For Army, it is different. It appears as long as your status says "boarded", your record met a board and you were given a score and are on the Order of Merit List (OML). New applications that didn't meet the first Army board, met the second Army board. The OML scores from the second board, and the OML scores from the first Army board will be compared to decide who gets one of the scholarships being made available from the second board. If your status was to change from "boarded" to "disqualified" then that would probably mean you wouldn't meet the next board.

Thanks falcon A, I was probably confused on which branch did what. My son received the AFROTC scholarship very soon, it seemed like, after he completed his app. But, we never knew any dates. I thought maybe it was just a rolling type deal for the AFROTC. If it says DQ'd then I guess remaining boarded would indicate 'deferrred.' Thanks for the information.

Not to divert the thread, but AFROTC does not do rolling. The first board met in Dec. The second met earlier this month. There are a total of four boards like AROTC.

Nobody but the Brass at DC can know for certain; all I can say is "It will get here when it gets here!"

Don't worry guys, it'll be here before you know it. Enjoy the fact that you've got nothing to worry about (at least nothing to worry about having to do), and remember that patience is a virtue

Not authorized to say. Next board meets in March, so it will be before that, for sure.

If you would have put Clarkson on your list and you were getting a second round offer you may have gotten an email from some guy telling you to check your status often in the coming days. I would imagine very soon some of you will be getting phone calls and emails from schools you got offers to and schools you may not have gotten offers to. And don't freak out if you don't get those calls and emails. Still one more board to go. Remember that the end goal is to become an Army Officer, so if you don't get the scholarship there are still ways to make that happen.

I bet Sheriff and VTechRoomie are right -- it will be NLT Friday.

It appears scholarship winners have 30 days to respond via email or fax accepting the scholarship offer after they receive the Army's official letter. Since the next/final Army ROTC board this year begins on 9 March, the Army probably wants to hear from the 2nd board winners before the 3rd/final board starts so they know how many open scholarship slots they can allocate. By my count, Saturday 7 February is 30 days from the start of the 9 March board, so the official scholarship offer letters need to be delivered to each recipient by Friday 6 February. Mail takes 3 to 5 days so letters need to go out in the mail NLT Friday or Saturday to make this timeline -- provided of course that all of my assumptions are correct . . . ;)

. . . Best of luck to all
