My application has been completed since August 23rd, and I have completed my BGO interview and DODMERB physicals and paperwork. I know I still have to obtain a nomination this fall, but is there any way that I can find out the status of my application?

You can always contact your regional director. But it's still very early and your application may be in the line to go before the board soon- I remember all of the anticipation last year and like everyone told me then- calm down, enjoy your senior year and make sure to spend as much time doing what you like and with the people you are very close to as possible! Good luck!

I definitely recommend you contact your Regional Director of admissions. My son's file was complete a few weeks ago, so my son sent his RD an email to confirm that everything had been received and to ask if his file would be ready to go before the first admissions board. His RD got back to him very quickly and confirmed that everything was complete and ready to go.

Although good advice, I can't help chuckling every time I hear this kind of "advice." It always reminds me of the consolation one must get before they go to the electric chair.

Just enjoy the time you have left.

Treasure your loved ones.

Enjoy your final year.

Do what you like to do (which is a euphemism for, "What would you like for your last meal?")

I mean, geez, the "worst" that can happen is that he gets an appointment to the Naval Academy. He gets a great education - not a death sentence.

Just a mom

I can remember these days last year with my daughter. I think the two hardest waiting parts are 1) after you have done ALL that is within your power to complete your application and you wait...and wait. 2) Waiting to hear from Senators and MOC about nominations. That was difficult as well. In reality, IF you have completed all components of your application, your application is probably in line to go in front of the of the admissions board. It is still very early. If I remember correctly my daughters application was completed in mid Oct. (BGO could not fit her in before Oct) and her application was seen by the board just before Christmas break. I would second the advice to call the Academy just to verify that nothing is missing and your application is ready to go. The Academy seems to respond quickly to e-mails as well, you should have an e-mail contact within your application status section on the Academy website (I have forgotten all the terminology regarding admissions). A NOTE THE PARENTS: It is always a good idea to have your child, the applicant, contact the Academy. It is looked upon badly by the Academy if the parent is taking care of things for the applicant.

I had to laugh when I read Memphis9489 " It always reminds me of the consolation one must get before they go to the electric chair". My daughter would have completely agreed up until about a week ago (when the academic year started). She wanted to attend an academy since 7th grade and last year she had her heart set on the Naval Academy. I don't think she would change the outcome for the world but sometimes she has "and I wanted this why?" moments. It is a challenge and it is difficult. It becomes less of a dream and more of a burden. But that is good...she is growing up!:shake:
