I understand that it needs to be white but most white compression shorts have a different colored waistband. Do the waistbands matter? What about the seams, because sometimes the seams are different colors. Thanks.

What is your source on that? Last year during 2016's basic we were allowed ones that were white, black, or blue, as long as they were solid and not faddish. I personally wore black through all of basic, and there were several others who wore the colors mentioned above.

Frankly, it isn't going to matter.

If your cadre decide to let you keep compression shorts, then they won't care about waistband color as long as the shorts are white (or black).

If your cadre decide to confiscate all civilian clothing, then that's that.

We where not allowed to keep compression shorts or any type of civilian clothing at all, unless it had some kind of religious significance behind it.

Like so many things at USAFA, the use of compression shorts during BCT would appear to be squadron dependent. DS wore black compression shorts and I think pretty much the entire time. I'd strongly recommend bringing them. If they get taken away so be it, but the new ABUs will chafe.

They allow us to bring underwear, right?
Couldn't we just bring compression "underwear" and wear them as underwear throughout BCT?

You are issued (men only) underwear (whitey-tighties), but most squads allow you to bring/wear civie skivvies. Bring them with you.

You will be fully 'briefed' on this issue upon your arrival.

Yes, chafing can be an issue. I know a couple of years ago when my DD was a C4C, that especially during basic when the ABU's are new and stiff that they literally rubber her the wrong way. Of course, hers could be an isolated incident and I could be way off. The girls tended to wear the PC shorts under their uniforms at the time to ease the chafing. It was simple and issued to them so there wasn't a problem.

I guess it's hit or miss for girls. I didn't bring compression shorts, and chafing wasn't an issue.

    For the gentlemen:
I've heard that chafing is a problem. As I said before, it is your cadre's decision whether or not you can keep compression shorts. Males are issued underwear, so you can't count on keeping it. Technically, all civilian clothing (including undergarments for the males) should be confiscated until after BCT. I'm going to let my flight keep compression shorts, but other flight commanders may not.

IF you decide to bring such items, don't bring compression shorts that are longer than mid-thigh. They are not allowed to show beneath the hem of your PC shorts.
