Wulaw, have learned through this board that every unit is different. My son's unit isn't anywhere near that intense. Yes, most are scholarship, yes....if you're not a marine you are probably an engineer (except for the guy who is going to BUD/s this summer, he's an econ major) but they only PT twice a week. Weds. AM and Thurs. PM and when you hit a certain mark, you are excused from the morning PT.
There are other things that are intense, there is a lot of "BS" or presumed "BS" stuff, but the orientation prior to starting in the fall is not voluntary, but it's not a week either (3 days I believe).
The top level staff at this unit is all new this year. We were very impressed with the XO, CO and AMOI who came on board. I just think they all do what works for their unit.
