Hey everyone. I am new to the forums, so I really am not sure where to post this, so I am sorry if its in the wrong place. Anyways, I was doing some research on nominations from my congressmen and the age limit to for nominations is 17. on the requirements list it says, Must be at least 17 years old and not have reached your 23rd birthday, and that is all I get. well i have a late birthday, september 27, 1996. so i will be 17 when im a senior, if I wanted to start late in my junior year when im 16, will my nomination request be denied because of my age? still have lots of research to do, but it would help a ton if I could get an answer on this. thanks.

To be eligible to enter the Academy you must be:
"At least 17, but less than 23 years of age by July 1 of the year you would enter. The age requirement is public law and cannot be waived."

    (from https://admissions.usafa.edu/secure/online/eligibility.htm)

Since you will be 17, you are fine. I also have a late birthday (didn't turn 18 until a few months into this academic year). Not a problem. I guarantee you will not be the youngest in your class.

I am not positive, but I think a lot of noms don't even open until August senior year, so I would look at the dates that you have to have send your apps for the noms in by, and when it opens in the first place. They probably only care that you are 17 by the time you are actually AT the academy, but IF otherwise, just get everything else done ahead of time, and prepare your letters and stuff for the noms, and you will still have time to get them in. As I said before, they will most likely be fine if your are 17 when you enter. Good luck!
