Ok I'm brand new to these forums and this is my first thread, anyway I'm dying to go to the usna and Its been my dream for
Some time now and I know that the academy likes athletics on the application and I'm in tennis but I'm not on varsity which the academy likes you
To be on, I'm on the team right below varsity and I will proaby be on varsity this year and defiantly next year, but I was wondering if this will help take the place of tennis for now, I'm on the raider team in my jrotc unit which is the pt team and I've ran the Bataan death march marathon, and I've also place 3rd with the team I'm on in the national raider team competition at camp bullis tx, my only concern is that it was army jrotc so will the academy still look at that or not and finally does
The academy look at your junior year also because I hope to increase on a lot of things, thanks and sorry it was so long I had alot of questions and I haven't been receiving answers on any other sites so hopefully I will on this one

The academy looks at all years of high school, but I believe it looks more heavily on athletics participated in during 10-12 grades

I agree, athletics are viewed as more important. In your non-athletic activities, I would strive to have a meaningful position of leadership where you can actually discuss (probably with your BGO) specific things you've done in that leadership position. It can't just be a title and nothing more. What did you do in your leadership role?

From what I can tell, the Naval Academy is not too jazzed about JROTC. That seems counter-intuitive but it seems to be the case. Don't get me wrong, it certainly doesn't hurt you - but it's no better than Scouts, probably less so.

Well, that's what I thought but my school only offers army because I live
Next to ft hood, which is the biggest army base in the world, so I'm stuck there but I did go to a leadership camp as a freshman where I lead a squad of cadets from all over the state of Texas and next year I should be on varsity tennis so hopefully they will see what I have to offer to the academy cause like I said I want to go there so bad
