Winning Football Game = Overnight Liberty

After the Navy-SMU football game, it was announced that the Midshipmen were given an overnight liberty (correct term?) for that evening.

The mids were ecstatic! We happened to be visiting, so our Plebe got to spend the night with us. First night off the Yard in over 100 days.
 
So the overnite was only for that evening? :frown: My mid was under the impression he could save it for a later weekend, like next weekend when he has some visitors.
 
:thumbdown:No, this one does not qualify to be accumulated among the potential overnights. On Saturday, it was "now or never." It was a fabulous weekend to be on and near the Yard among the many young celebrants and those experiencing parts of there dreams and journeys vicariously. Stunning how many Mids remained in downtown Annapolis, amidst the many gendarmes as well, at 0300 hours. An eye-opener for those among us who've not seen 0300 in some time, beyond our real dreaming.:rolleyes::sleep:

btw, it was, as always, only available to those deemed "over-nite eligible", i.e. no duty nor restricted status.:hammer:
 
Main office actually sent out an email to the CDOs that night saying that it is bankable for later weekends, so some friends and I decided to bank it for the Notre Dame game next week so that we could spend an extra day in New York. However, word recently came down from the dant's office that it is not bankable, which goes directly against what they said the day before. They are trying to work the whole thing out, and I know that I will be extremely disappointed if it is taken away from me after we were explicitly told we could keep it.
 
Hmmm...Plebe son had duty, but he was specifically told the overnight would be bankable for him. Hope that's right. :confused:
 
Oh I hope they work it out so that its bankable...my Mid didn't use that term, but did say he was told he could use it next weekend. Keeping fingers crossed that it is!
 
Do keep up your hopes, 'cause this is a different Supe and Dant, but DD had a similar situation her Plebe year, and did not get to bank the overnight when on duty.
 
I think the whole idea is that it is pretty much an empty benefit, that not many would use it. Start giving out 'bankable' weekends for every football game and the place will become just like a civilian college.
 
My understanding is that it was only bankable for those on duty. That's the way it worked last year-people on duty could use it another weekend, but no one else can save it and use it later. The Dant told us earlier in the week that we would get an overnight if we won, and it was either take it then or don't use it. Might be wrong, but everyone I talked to assumed we could only use it this past weekend.
 
Yep, thats what I found out too, thanks TBBucs! My mid had duty, so I think he's good to go!:thumb:
