Can anyone tell me about wisdom teeth and swab summer? They don't hurt, but haven't gotten them checked out. Also, if I want to go to flight school, do they need to pulled before?

CGA does not require them pulled before Swab Summer. If they need to be pulled later on, the CGA dentists will do it.

With that said, I recommend that if you can get them pulled before Swab Summer, do it. That way, they are out of the way and you can recover comfortably at home. It would be much more comfortable especially if there are any complications like dry socket.

As far as flight school, I have no idea. Perhaps someone else can chime in with that one.

I will echo what Grevar said. Get them checked. This is independant of flight school. You will be underway at some point in your career. They cannot interfere with your ability to perform your mission. Get them checked and confer with your dentist. If you get an appointment, and have your wisdom teeth, the CG dentists will decide whether they need to come out and when.

The only requirement I'm aware of is that they have to be out (or determined to be a non-issue) before you graduate. And obviously you can't go to flight school until you graduate. I waited until I was a 1/c to get them pulled. Mostly because I just didn't want to do it. I don't recommend waiting that long.

However, there's no requirement to get them taken out BEFORE entering CGA. CGA contracts out with several local doctors for the procedure, and getting them taken out at CGA isn't too bad as long as you don't get them pulled before finals or some event. The doctor I had was excellent. I think I had a formal room and wing inspection the day after mine, so I just laid in my room and slept for the entire weekend. Not too bad.
