DS and I were having a discussion this evening about how having a job might be perceived by academy admissions. DS works every weekend, has all A/P and IB courses, and is active in the drama department (rehearses every afternoon from 3-7 pm during show season). Does admissions take into consideration his busy schedule when looking at his grades (which aren't straight As)?

All activities (jobs included) are considered and evaluated as part of the holistic review. Being able to "juggle" many things (a job, an after school activity, and maintain high grades) may be looked at as necessity for a successful academy appointee.
