What happens if a cadet gets hurt right now, after BCT, and while classes are in session? It's a knee injury and she is not an athlete. Will she get a medical turnback at this point?:frown:

I don't see why, unless it was such a severe injury that she couldn't stay at USAFA.

I was injured at USAFA after airborne training...ended up in the hospital, surgery, etc., for almost 3 weeks. Then over a year of physical therapy. I stayed...and I was not "unique."

Nope, they'll treat her, and get her well and if she's on bed rest or in the hospital, the'll bring her school work to her! No escape!

Thank you, this eases my worries somewhat! Even if she is a C4C?

She is fine. If she is mobile (wheelchair or crutches) than there should be no issues. Knee injuries were not uncommon at all among cadets. Once the person reaches A-day, involuntary medical turnback is highly unlikely.

Unless it affects some one's ability to be commissioned, they will normally go on a Form 18 and be exempted from certain activities until they are healed.

I have A LOT of experience with this. The real problems only occur if it is getting close to graduation and some grad requirements have not been met. My freshman roommate had a separated shoulder right at the end of basic and went the whole year recovering.
