So I was looking at the weather at Colorado Springs earlier in the week and pointed out to my son the weather was 56 degrees on Saturday when I picked him up from the USNA and Annapolis was in the low 30s! Well, I just looked again and here's what it says: Monday snow, hi 25 low -5. Tuesday HIGH -3 and LOW -14!!!!!!!!!!

Wednesday back up to a balmy 17 hi and 4 low. Thursday we take our clothes off and swim in the fountain when we reach the hi of 38. Those are amazing temperature swings from my experience.

Holy Moly, what's the uniform of the day going to be Tuesday!!!!??????? Arctic Parka and stay in your room by a toaster?

DS is having a cold visit!

Oh boy! My DS is at the AFA now...will be shadowing a cadet in the morning. I'm not sure he is prepared for that kind of weather. Can't wait for him to tell me about it

I remember getting one email from my son telling me it was warm and sunny when he went into one of his classes and an hour later when he came out of Fairchild, there was a blizzard.

When we visited USAFA the first time. It was end of March. We had been skiing in Breck for several days. 50s & 60s and had been 70s in the Springs. We made the drive down to the springs and checked into our hotel. The next morning when we went for our tours and such, it was about 45. By noon formation, my son was trying to find a cadet to loan him a jacket because it was 22 and freezing rain. By dinner, it was 55

Welcome to the Springs folks!!!! I’ve lived out here for 20 years now and there’s one thing you can count on the weather out here and it’s CHANGE!! I remember my first 70* day during January I couldn’t process it and sure enough it dropped like a rock within 4 hours to 30*. One piece of advice dress in layers that way you can put more on or peal them off as you need to.

So; currently, at 9:00am, the temperature in colorado springs is -10. (Closer to -13 up on the hill). We don't talk about "Wind Chill". (That's WAY TOO DEPRESSING). Here in Cheyenne, we are at -16. We actually gained 2 degrees.

But, FWIW: Thursday in Colorado Springs: 43; Friday: 52; Saturday 45.

    Ain't nuttin but a thang.

can you get around between most cadet related buildings on the hill via underground w/o having to go outside?

Well, I can confirm that it is cold outside. Walking down to the gym was miserable, and the wind isn't helping.

No. Can't really avoid the T-zo Tundra, especially if you're a freshman. Upperclassmen can minimize the time outside, but there's no avoiding it.
