We are in search of mariners who served on coastwise barges and tugs during WW II. About 30,000 mariners served on these old and dilapidated vessels moving bulk war materials up and down our coasts to ports within.

Many served and performed the same duties as others, they drew the same wages, paid the same taxes and endured the same hardships as others. There was one single difference. Many served but without the official credentials that were offered to other mariners. Others were denied these same credential due to age, disability and sex.

We are attempting to have these mariners recognized for their services and bestow their due status as veterans via congressional action. Help is needed in that area also. if your are interested in more background info, please respond.
