I took the CFA at NASS this summer and I think my scores were good enough to be considered "passing". Obviously USNA has my scores. How do I get them to USMA and USAFA? Is there a central location for this info - or do I need to enter it into each app package separately?

For the AFA you must re-take it, they do not accept it from NASS, they will accept it from SLS. At least that was true 2 yrs ago.

I don't see why they wouldn't take it from NASS -- USAFA, USMA, and USNA all use the same CFA the last time I checked. Maybe they didn't two years ago?

I'm in the same situation as ppk10. I took the CFA at USMA SLS and got a passing score. However, I didn't train for it then, and am now, so I'm going to re-take it in the fall and hopefully max out on a few events and improve in everything.

They do. They always have. The sole reason for commencing the CFA five or so years ago was a common test that could be administered only once to each candidate no matter which Academy to which they were applying. It made the high school PE teachers very happy. They were complaining.

There is no common clearing house so of course the easiest way would be for the administrator to complete all paperwork for each academy. Beyond that, first off, I would ask the receiving SA to request it from the Admissions Office to which you originally submitted it. If this is ineffective, ask the Academy with the test results to forward them. Either should work depending on the SA. It does not necessarily happen that often so there may be Admissions Office personnel not entirely on board with the program.

WP requires a certified PE instructor, not a coach, to administer the test. However, in the past they have accepted those CFAs administered by a coach via another academy. You might want to check first (or be on the safe side and use a PE instructor anyway).

Also, if you are applying to CGA [deleted], candidates might be better off in the long run taking their specific test. Or at least ask someone in their organization for advice.

Also be advised that all academies do not look at them the same and some do not look at all parts equally. What might possibly be good results with one SA might not be the same with another.

Not exactly.

When applying to the USCGA, a different test (known as the PFE) is administered.

Although the USCGA Admissions Office deems the CFA as "acceptable" they do not recommend submitting it as the only physical fitness test for the applicant. They would rather see the candidate take the PFE, as that is the standard they will be held to in the first week of Swab Summer.

Alrighty, let's keep it friendly. :)

I still don't see why the CFA taken at NASS would be unacceptable to USAFA, though.

I would recommend to ppk10 to retake the CFA, even if it is passing. I can't say for certain that NASS runs the same way as SLS, but at WP they handed out your scores, and you were either "not at risk" or "at risk." That does not necessarily mean your scores are competitive.

Come on folks. PLEASE keep it civil.

I really, really do not want to start sending PMs, handing out infractions, etc. We are all adults here; let's act like it.

Your friendly mod (who really has better things to do w/her time . . . )

[deleted] USCGA has determined, as the best fit for THIER ADMISSIONS PROCESS AND FOR THEIR ACADEMY that the PFE test (push-ups, sit-ups, and 1.5 mile run) is the BEST for THEM.
