If you plan on playing a sport that requires your own equipment (tennis comes to mind), at what point do you bring it in?

Have your parents bring your sports equipment on A day. IF you are a recruited corps squad athlete, the coach will contact you about bringing your equipment. You will likely have a team meeting/picnic the day before R day where you stow the equipment in the team locker room. Otherwise, you don't need to bring anything that you don't want to carry all day!

If I remember correctly (and it's been a while) in the "what to bring" section it listed sports specific equipment as an approved option -- things like your tennis racquet, if you were going to try out for tennis as a walk-on, or shin guards and cleats for soccer, baseball glove, etc. You can also bring musical instruments. Just remember that anything you bring you will be carrying for at least part of the day on R-Day. :thumb:

    Similarly at USNA

When DD reported for I-Day for class of '07, she met with team members and coach the day before and stowed her diving gear (suits, wrist guards, sammy) in a locker at Lejuene Hall. Good to see friendly faces beforehand.

Gee, Kaullman, I wonder if we were in the same section a few weeks ago at Patriots at Bucknell? The Navy divers were amazing!

If that is the thing that causes the greatest amount personal discomfort on R Day, then you are one lucky individual! :shake:

My fencers were told not to have their gear till parents weekend. We wound up shipping it to them UPS since that was about the time that airlines were charging $$$ for extra luggage, and of course, two kids' fencing gear weighed quite a bit. We picked it up in Arnold Hall on our first day there at PW. It was a 6x2x2 ft box and was jam-packed with swords, gloves, shoes, uniforms, lames, masks... all the gear.
