DS applying from fleet. 3rd time applicant. Gets email yesterday "Do you have any certificate of achievements, awards, community volunteers? scan and send them to me. thanks"

So I know this means his application has been reviewed. Yes he is 3Q and has Sec Nav nomination.
    Is this a good sign???

Sounds like his admissions counselor is trying to ensure he has everything in his package before going to the admissions board and ensure his WCS is as high as possible. Of course that is just my speculation. Good luck to your DS! Hope it all works out.

I don't want to take over this tread with another topic, but how do people know if they are 3Q? Both times when I applied I was never notified of whether I was qualified or not.

There are tons of comments about this lately in other threads. It appears that some RDs have told candidates. Been a topic of debate. From the BGOs on this site they have posted multiple times that BGOs and RDs are directed to NOT give this information out to candidates. I am not a BGO or RD so no idea how this works, but it seems some RDs and BGOs are pretty specific about telling candidates up front to not ask as they cannot tell, while a few others may not be following admissions guidance. The OP for this thread I believe is a parent of a third time applicant son who is in the fleet. The fleet coordinator (or someone else) may have divulged this info to her DS.

Some friends have said they send you a letter saying so. Can't speak on it for sure, didn't get one myself.

To my knowledge, USNA no longer sends letters. I think USMA may. As we have repeated over and over, BGOs are not permitted to release this information. Some apparently still do it.

The official source is Admissions. You can ask them whether you are 3Q; I don't know whether they provide this information or not.

I was told his application looks really good because he has a year of college. He took 36 hours and has an A in Calculus. Applying from the fleet is totally different than the first 2 times he applied.
