Default Forbes Top 100...as expected

As expected and well warranted, USMA topped the SAs and held down the #3 spot on the list. USAFA turned in a respectable #10. USNA finished as expected as well.

USCGA didn't fare so well.

Isn't this last year's list? All the rankings are the same as what was published last summer - thought the list came out each August? It says on it "values calculated June 11".

I love seeing the military academies on the "Best of whatever" lists. But there's about 20+ different "Best Colleges" lists out there. This one isn't really that impressive. The survey itself says:

Quote:
Our annual ranking of the 650 best undergraduate institutions focuses on the things that matter the most to students: quality of teaching, great career prospects, graduation rates and low levels of debt.
Ummm; that's sort of something the military academies sort of excel at. (Why coast guard isn't higher; I don't know). Has anyone ever watch the movie with Tom Selleck "Mr. Baseball". When they were going to trade him to a japanese team, Tom Selleck used his stats as a defense.

Quote:
Jack Eliot: I'm a World Series MVP!
Skip: That was four years ago, Jack.
Trey: You hit .235 Last season.
Jack Eliot: LAST SEASON, I led this team in ninth-inning doubles in the month of August!
Sometimes, stats just aren't that impressive. I would think that a military academy would have some of the best graduation rates; lowest (NO) debt; and great career prospects. (You're guaranteed a job for the next 5 years). In other words; this list was for what's important to a student. Sorry; but their opinion isn't really that important. I like seeing all the academies with good accolades. But leading the league in ninth-inning doubles in the month of August isn't that impressive.

The order is just great. Independent of where I think CGA should be, the order for a number of other schools is surprising. I think as Carnagie Mellon as a fine school.... and I find MANY schools ranked about it.

Forbes may want to use a different word.... "Best" doesn't seem to be accurate.
