Default LDAC APFT Scores

My son just finished LDAC, with an S. On his first APFT test, he failed because they did not count 40 pushups. He took it again on day 27 and got a 255. He has gotten 2 different answers on what the APFT score will be. One SGT says it will be 180 becasue he failed the first time. Another says it will be 255. Does anyone know what the answer is?

The best way for your son to find out what APFT score they will give him is to ask his cadre at his battalion.

If I remember from reading my older son's LDAC Eval (Had to find something to read on the 3000 mile drive to Alabama) there were spaces on the eval sheet for the first APFT and last APFT score. Not sure how they arrive at a final score when the first test is failed.

From your post, it sounds like they have the new LT's doing the grading again. There were some photos of LDAC and the APFT earlier this summer that seemed to show the NCO's doing the grading, maybe that was just for the cameras. I really wish they would switch to NCO grading, so do most NCO's I've spoken with.

Best of luck to your son.

I am by North Ft Lewis regularly and the few regiments I have seen were all graded by NCOs. In addition the APFT averages from my school are a whole 20 points higher than last year (both groups had around the same school APFT averages going into LDAC)

Well that's good to hear, I guess the OP's son may have just been a bit off on form. It's about time the NCO's started grading.

Sending you a PM

DD got back from LDAC a week ago. She said that NCO's were the graders of her APFT and that the one she had was very fair in his grading of pushups and situps. Her biggest complaint was the downtime between her arrival and the day of the test. She said her energy level was low due to the food and physical inactivity. That being said she still scored a 344. Very proud of her.

344 - that's awesome. Congrats to her and best wishes for branching.
