Thumbs up Number of Mids from each state?

Are there any published profiles or reports that tell how many Mids are from each state? I'm just interested because I want to know how many mids from Maine are in each class.

Thanks.

I only know from Oregon there were 7 direct appointees and 2 (including me) going to NAPS.

The number of Mids from a single state really can vary a lot from year to year. The incoming class size depends on the number of applicants, the state's number of MOCs, and the competitiveness of the state's applicants with respect to the national pool. For instance, Kentucky is a fairly small state, having six Reps. Often, we will have 8 to 12 incoming Mids in a class, or just about one per MOC. However, we had 22 enter with the Class of 2011 (19 graduated), and we have 23 set to join the Class of 2016. Of course, if very few people apply, an incoming class could be very small.

I think Georgia has 27 incoming this year... but don't quote me on that. I might be wrong.

Maine only has two congresswomen and two senators, so based off what other people have said I would assume that there are at least 4 people from Maine in each class

Default an interesting note

In my state two people given appointments to USNA for the class of 2016 declined their appointments on the last day to declare. Were there two applicants wait listed from my state? I surely dont know. But that could impact the numbers from our state.

In states with a single Parents Club, the club may have a very accurate count of the number of appointments that were accepted. In states with multiple areas, you would have to query each area's club. It might be more productive for you to contact the SA liaison in your MOC's office. Frankly the number of appointments tends to vary fairly widely from class to class, and 2016 appears to be an outlier from the getgo. To my knowledge the 2017 target has not yet been announced. My casual observation over the years has been that each cycle tends to start as a clean slate. In recent cycles this area has had as many as 17 appts and as few as 8 appts, and generally there is no cleancut way to predict how it will turn out until sometime in the spring. Focus on things you can control or impact will be more productive.

Although last updated in 2004(?), Brief Points breaks this down by state in the book. The biggest were CA, VA, MD, FL, TX, PA, with CA, TX topping the list (as best as I can recall).

1964BGO, can you clarify?

also-in our area a representative from USNA (other than their BG0 or area coordinator) met with at least two appointees who hadn't committed. The purpose of this was to see if they had any questions or concerns keeping them from committing. Is this common?

Additionally,a friend whose son applied last year was told by his BGO that our area had less appointees committing than in the past.Do things ebb and flow like that typically?
