Hmm this is wierd because I went to NASS and I just recieved an email that said they were doing a survey. I'm not sure if this is the same type of the thing as the phonecall but if feedback on NASS is all that distinguishing, I don't think they would send out a survey.

Wonder why some would receive a call and some an email? DS received the call (we were not home, they left a message), no email...

our info:
I have no general information-just the communications were received. Phone Call: Son received a phone call-this was when all the phone lines were down and power was out due to the midwestern storms. Being 17 he didnt look for old phone calls and the phone didnt mark that there was a message. After I read this forum I asked him to check and through some phone voodoo mumbo jumo that only teenagers understand- he was able to retrieve the message. I just listened to the message. The message almost verbatim said: Did you like Nass? what are your thoughts on the Naval academy? do you have any questions about the naval academy? How is your application going? Do you have any questions about your application? If you have any questions or concerns call this number (regional admissions guy) I dont want to second guess anyone faaaar more in the know than myself (which would be every single person) but the sense that DH, DS and I got was that it was more of feeling out DS interest in general than in asking about NASS.--Now having said that DS does not have anything spectacular in his package: NO R.A, no U.R.M, not from an under represented area, solid but not extremely high GPA(3.8/4.4) and ACT scores (34E/34M). so it could have been random for sure. I cant believe they call 2,000 NASS attendees even if they have alot of ensigns sitting around looking to keep busy. On the other hand-it could have been completely random. Regarding the email: the email we got was a form email saying glad you came to NASS, USNA is great, take our survey on NASS. "In order to continuously improve the Summer Seminar program for future Candidates, we would greatly appreciate some feedback about your experience during your six-day stay here at the Academy." This was definitely geared towards an AAR on NASS. Last edited by Vista123; 11th July 2012 at 01:37 PM. |

DS received a call today. It was simply a message acknowledging his interest applying and extending the offer to call if questions. He did not attend NASS and has, in my view, solid but not stellar academic credentials.

Now I am getting a better understanding of exactly what Admission's TAD ENS/2ndLT do over the summer.
