AP exams

Do the scores for AP exams need to be sent for ROTC scholarship consideration? They are kind of pricey so I want to be prudent when ordering reports to be sent.

AP test scores should be recorded by the school in the transcripts sent in to CC. Check with your school to make sure they have been processed before having the transcripts sent to CC. No need to spend the $$.

Can't help you with that except to say that the number of APs and grades achieved (not the score) are clearly a part of the weighting of the GPA that I'm sure that CC does.

Perhaps Clarkson or Marist has some insight into this aspect?

I don't think it works that way everywhere. In LA Unified, the AP scores do not show on the Transcript. The student must order his/her AP scores of Collegeboard to send to ROTC (if needed) and eventually to the college where the student matriculates.

Off topic, but AP scores are poorly handled. At the same collegeboard.com where SAT scores are recorded for the student to view, AP scores are not. Strange.

I also do not believe that AP scores are important in the scholarship application.

Must have changed since I grew up (I was a victim of LAUSD) as my scores from 11th grade (before I even considered the school I attended) and 12th grade made it to college without any effort on my part.

Actually in my day, the HS itself sent the transcript. Are you telling me that this is now a district function?

Note to OP - given this situation, you should check with your guidance office to confirm the presence of AP scores on his transcript.

My son goes to a pretty small school. I don't know what shows up on the printout but if there is a blank on the form for scores, the office will fill it in.

For the two different HS's in 2 different states that our children attended we were required to pay for the exam when they enrolled in the fall. Both schools had a great system, if the child got a 3 or higher they paid for it and reimbursed you the cost.

I know I totally forgot about paying the money because it was due that 1st week when you are given 100 papers to fill out.

Back on topic, but I don't think at least for AFROTC these scores ever come into play the way SAT/ACT does regarding the WCS. It would come into play in PAR from an academic course curriculum rigor and gpa, but not you need a min score to be seen as competitive, like it is stated for SAT/ACT.

Believe it or not, but many schools do not offer AP, instead they have IBs and AICE.
