Default Whey Protein and Urine Test

I heard that most candidates who fail the urine test fail due to irregular protein levels in their urine. I'm taking both whey protein and creatine monohydrate to bulk up for the upcoming football season. Should I stop taking one or both of these workout supplements prior to my DoDMERB exams? And if so, how long before the test should I stop taking them? I need to gain some weight to be more competitive for the season, but I wouldn't want my efforts to inhibit or obstruct the DoDMERB process. Any advice would be much appreciated, thanks.

In order for you to have significant protein in your urine you would to have either a lot of trauma or some glomerular filtration problems within the nephrons of your kidneys. All in all protein in urine is considered a bad thing above anything but light trace. Exercise or infection can increase protein as well.

I take heavy amounts of whey protein and have taken quite few urine tests with high protein never showing up.

If you are at all worried talk to your doctor, he will know the normal ranges even with high protein intake.

the person making the medical appointment with DS told him that if he was taking any protein supplements to stop until after the appointment. It can cause unusual test results and that = problems that need explanations, and on and on into a bad spiral. Plus, as I understand it, this stuff is fairly unregulated. One is relying on the representations of some company without much verification. You may be getting other 'bulk up' ingredients that you are not aware of, and that may lead to unwanted positive results for a variety of street pharmaceuticals. So my advice is stop taking all that stuff now for as much time as possible before your medical exam. If your exam is in the next week or two, consider rescheduling. As for your weight, try peanut butter sandwiches.

Thank you for sharing your experience and offering the advice. Unfortunately, both of my appointments are this friday, and I've already rescheduled one of them. I suppose the best thing thing to do now is flush my system with plenty of water over the next few days. Wish me luck!

I am NOT a medical professional but a number of years ago, the Chief Medical Officer at USNA said that ONE REASON people can have protein in their urine during the test is that they worked out strenuously in the days immediately preceding the test. He recommended going easy on workouts 2-3 days before your test.

I stopped taking the creatine 3 days before my examination. I kept taking protein shakes though. I only take 1 a day. I didn't exercise for 2 days before the test. I passed.
